Containers handling

A draught of 13.2 metres allowing the insertion of post-panamax container vessels of approx. 4,500 TEU. Two Liebherr LHM 500 cranes with automatic Bromma gripping device guaranteeing handling of 40-tonne containers (17 rows), and after rearming also of over-high containers and 140-tonne heavy lifts. The illuminated and monitored storage yard – CY with an area of 9,300 m2 enabling storage of solid containers up to 4-5 layers – 1,600-2,000 TEU at a time. The storage yard is accessed by two railway lines, which guarantee a single entry of a full-container storage on Sggos platforms with a capacity of 80 TEU (4 x 20’= a Sggos platform). Reefer container connection positions – 85 slots. The proximity of the cold store of the Euro-Terminal – storage capacity of approx. 24,000 pallets in the temperature range (-30/+13°C) gives the customers the opportunity to unload and briefly store full refrigerated containers in the yard.

A monitored CFS warehouse with a capacity of 5,800 m2 for the storage and formation of all kinds of containerised cargo, equipped with 14 forklifts in the range from 2 to 21 tonnes.

Container handling in the wagon – yard – wagon relationship is provided by Kalmar type reachstackers. A total of 15 (tractor units and semi-trailers) for hauling containers to and from the yard.

The introduction of container trains and platform shunting work is secured by 5 own locomotives.

At the end of 2013, the Terminal was equipped with an STS post-panamax container crane. In 2014, a new Bromma spreader type SSx45 and a frame type OSx45 were purchased for the handling of overhigh containers.

The new investments already make it possible to safely receive container ships at the two quays – Chemików and Górników. This prevents possible congestion of container ships and has significantly increased the comfort of handling.
